UCLA Government and Community Relations will welcome California Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon on Thursday, Feb. 8 for his Speaker’s Lecture Series, in partnership with the Center for California Studies and the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs.
The discussion will center around the concept of “California Exceptionalism,” the idea that generations of people from around the United States and the world have come to California because it’s a beacon of freedom and opportunity, and whether that idea takes on greater significance in the current national landscape.
Rendon will host the conversation with UCLA professors, muralist Judy Baca and theater director Peter Sellars, along with acclaimed Los Angeles architect Frank Gehry.
The lecture series seeks to engage college students and the broader community in a discussion about the work of the state legislature and the critical issues facing California. This event is open to the public with an RSVP.
