This introduction to Oral History methodology will include an overview of the field, practical procedural information, and hands-on training in basic techniques.

PART I* - Saturday, April 18, 10am-12:30pm: Consent, Equipment, Interviewing

PART II* - Sunday, April 19, 10am-12:30pm: Interviewing, Transcription, Editing

PART III [optional] - Saturday, April 25, 10am-12:30pm: Archiving, Donation, Creative uses

*We ask that if you sign up for the workshop it’s with the understanding that you are committing to at least the first two sessions. Please make sure to sign up on both April 18 AND 19, as well as April 25 if you choose to do the workshop in its entirety.

DAN FROOT’s dance, music and theater work has been presented throughout the U.S. and overseas since 1983. His most recent project, Pang!, is a triptych of short plays based on the oral histories of families from across the country who are living with hunger. Pang! has been produced both as a podcast and as a live performance.
