IN Series has announced it will honor Department of World Arts and Cultures/Dance Distinguished Professor Peter Sellars during its 2024 Gala. The famed opera director will receive the first-ever June Jordan Award on Thursday, May 2. The Award recognizes “living creative voices whose body of work reflects the poetic principles exuding the many writings, workings, and wonderings of luminary poet and activist June Jordan.” Sellars has directed operas at all the major companies including the Dutch National Opera, English National Opera, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Opéra National de Paris, Salzburg Festival, and San Francisco Opera.
